2024 Morgan Proof Dollar Obverse

2024 Proof Silver Dollars to Premiere at Tampa Coin Show

The United States Mint (www.USMint.gov) is set to make a significant appearance at the inaugural Great American Coin and Collectibles Show, which will take place from September 11-14, 2024, at the Tampa, Florida Convention Center. This new event, co-produced by Coin World magazine (www.CoinWorld.com) and Shepherd Expos Management, promises to be a highlight for numismatists and collectors alike.

Among the many items from the Mint’s current product line, the show will feature the first public sales of the highly anticipated 2024 proof Morgan and Peace silver dollars. These individual proof coins, celebrated for their iconic designs by George T. Morgan and Anthony DeFrancisci, will be available for purchase starting September 12, 2024, while supplies last.

“We are thrilled that the United States Mint will not only participate in our inaugural event but will also make available two of the most eagerly anticipated coins of the year, the latest issue of proof silver dollars with the iconic and beloved designs by George T. Morgan and Anthony DeFrancisci,” stated Rick Amos, chairman of Amos Media, publisher of Coin World.

Adding to the excitement, the Mint’s booth will host a special guest each day. Bill the Buffalo, a costumed mascot, will engage young collectors by distributing Youth Collector Kits and other educational materials designed to spark interest in numismatics among children.

Larry Shepherd, show manager, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “In addition to important participation by the United States Mint giving attendees the opportunity to see and buy the Mint’s superb quality numismatic products in person, visitors will find more than 700 dealers from across the country.”

One of the standout attractions will be the display of the Eliasberg 1913 Liberty Head nickel, known for being the finest of the five known examples of this rare and famous coin. This exhibit, courtesy of GreatCollections (www.GreatCollections.com), marks the coin’s first appearance in Tampa, Florida.

To accommodate attendees, significant discounts are being offered at seven Hilton and Marriott hotel properties near the convention center, with rates starting as low as $159 per night. Larry Shepherd encouraged early booking to secure these special rates, which can be found at www.GACC.show/hotels.
